Our History
The story of AOIAP from its founding in 1981 to today.
Formed by Dr. C. Babji and colleagues
The AOI Andhra Pradesh branch was originally established in 1981 by Dr. C. Babji, Dr. John Suryodayam and Dr. Hanumantappa, working alongside counterparts from the (then-combined) Telangana region.
Under Dr. P. Narasimha Rao
The combined branch was formed under the guidance of Dr. P. Narasimha Rao, who shaped the academic culture of the early Andhra ENT community.
Combined Andhra-Telangana Era
For more than three decades, AOI's Andhra branch served the combined state of Andhra Pradesh, hosting annual conferences, CMEs and academic awards that became the academic backbone of ENT practice in the region.
Re-established as AOI-AP
Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the formation of Telangana, the AOI-AP State Branch was re-established in its current form to serve specialists across the residual Andhra Pradesh.
1300+ Members across 29 Districts
AOIAP today is a state-wide community of more than 1,300 ENT life members spanning every district of Andhra Pradesh, with district-level branches in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, Tirupati and beyond.
44th Annual State Conference
AOI APCON 2026 - "Back to Basics" - will be hosted in Kurnool from September 11 to 13, 2026, with pre-conference workshops at Kurnool Medical College.
